Johannesburg – Three people were injured, one of them critically, in two separate road accidents in Gauteng on Sunday afternoon.

In the first incident, on the Golden Highway close to the N1 Grasmere Toll Plaza in Johannesburg, ER24 paramedics and other services found a vehicle lying on its roof on the road, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.

“Upon assessment of the patients it was found that one man sustained critical injuries and another sustained moderate injuries. They were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.”

In the second incident, on the R59 in Meyerton, south of Johannesburg, the driver of a bakkie sustained moderate injuries when he crashed into a barrier close to an embankment.

“When ER24 paramedics and Midvaal fire and rescue services arrived on [the] scene they found the man still in the vehicle. Paramedics assessed and treated him for his injuries. He was transported to hospital for further medical care,” Bodasing said.
