Johannesburg - Traffic in Soweto will be disrupted on Saturday because of a motorcade by the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association, Gauteng traffic police said.

The motorcade will move from Zone 2 Park to Silverpipe Park in Meadowlands between 12pm and 6pm, spokesman Obed Sibasa said.

Areas that will be affected by the traffic disruptions were Meadowlands, Dube, Orlando West, Zondi and Orlando East.

He urged motorists to be patient and to use the following routes as alternatives: the Soweto Highway turning into Klipvalley road, the Sofasonke or Mooki streets through Orlando East and West, Chris Hani road through Orlando, Pimville, Klipspriut to Soweto or Main Reef road to Roodepoort and Dobsonville or Elias Motsoaledi and Hennessy street.

Traffic police would monitor the motorcade to ensure that traffic disruptions were minimised, he said. - Sapa
