Grayston bridge collapses

Johannesburg - At least 17 people were injured and one person killed when the Grayston bridge collapsed over the M1 in Johannesburg on Wednesday afternoon.

ER24 paramedics along with other services, including Life Healthcare were on scene and reported that the injuries ranged from minor to critical.

The M1 was closed to traffic as emergency services rushed to the scene.

The cause of the incident remained unknown at the time of publication, however local authorities were quickly on scene for investigation.

The City of Johannesburg issued a statement in which it noted the “unfortunate incident” that happened at a construction site on the M1 near Grayston Drive.

Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Parks Tau, was reported to be en route to the site of the incident.
