Two injured after helicopter crash

Two men were critically injured in a helicopter crash in an abandoned industrial park off 16^th Avenue in Midrand on Sunday afternoon.

The cause of the accident and the series of events leading up to it remain uncertain and will form the subject of a Civil Aviation Authority Investigation.

Common cause information suggests that the helicopter crashed and the wreckage disintegrated, the largest segment coming to rest against concrete palisade fencing. Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find two occupants in a critical condition and they immediately initiated treatment.

One man was airlifted by the Netcare1 Aeromedical Helicopter to the Netcare Sunninghill Hospital. His counterpart was transported by ambulance to the same medical facility. - Netcare
