Pretoria – The pupils from Refano Primary and Mahlenga Secondary schools and a general worker who died in a taxi crash two weeks ago are being buried on Saturday.

And thousands of people; family members, pupils, government officials, community members and society as a whole have gathered at Verena Open Ground to pay their last respect.

Two of the pupils will be laid at their homes in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Limpopo on Sunday.

Gauteng MEC Panyaza Lesufi will lead the funeral delegation in Limpopo while Mpumalanga MEC for Community safety, security and liaison Pat Ngomane head to KZN.

It is two weeks since the horrific taxi and truck collision at Wolvenkop near Bronkhorstspruit.

The accident claimed 20 lives, 18 pupils and two adults – the general worker from one of the schools and driver of the taxi.

Taxi associations have donated transportation to ferry family members and other members of the community to and from the cemetery.
