Johannesburg - Severe wind caused extensive damage in the Vaal Marina area in Midvaal late Monday afternoon, causing extensive property damage and injuring at least 50 people, according to paramedics.
According to ER24, rooftops were blown off and power lines damaged in what was described by onlookers as a tornado.
Paramedics found that at least 50 patients had sustained minor injuries. Of those, half were treated on the scene and a total of 25 patients were transported to hospital for further medical care by emergency medical services personnel.

While the cause of the abnormal winds were not yet known, local authorities are on the scene to investigate.
