WATCH #JHBFire: Blaze at Makhura's offices

Johannesburg - The Gauteng provincial government building in the Joburg CBD, where provincial Premier David Makhura’s office is based, is on fire this morning.

Joburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said the blaze, on the corner of Commissioner and Simmonds Streets, erupted at around 9am.

“We can confirm that the Gauteng provincial government building is on fire.”

He said that the top section of the building has been affected by the blaze and that staff have been evacuated.

“No injuries have been reported yet and the cause of the fire is still unknown,” said Mulaudzi.

Firefighters were on the scene and more details were yet to be made available.
