WATCH: Minister hands over 100 laptops to female offenders

Pretoria – Women offenders at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre in Pretoria expressed their gratitude as the Minister of Tourism Tokozile Xasa opened a computer laboratory and handed over laptops on Tuesday morning.

"We are giving you these resources to equip you so that you make a better lives for yourselves when go back to your communities, " Xasa told the female offenders.

Offender Belinda Nombuya said she was happy to have been given such an opportunity. "I am very excited that we now have enough equipment to help us continue smoothly with our studies," she said. The 29-year-old from Ga-Rankuwa has been locked up for theft.

This was her third year as an inmate and she would be out on parole next month, she said.

Xasa and the sponsors donated 100 laptops, and acting regional commissioner Mandla Mkabela said they were very grateful.
