Johannesburg – A woman was killed and a man sustained serious injuries when their car overturned several times along Atlas Road in Farrarmere, Benoni, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
"At approximately 3am, paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the man, believed to be in his twenties, still trapped in the vehicle. He was extricated by the local fire department," said ER24 spokesperson, Werner Vermaak.
"Once freed, paramedics continued their treatment and rushed him through to Tambo Memorial Hospital for further care."
Vermaak said a woman, also believed to be in her twenties, was found a few metres away from the car.
"Sadly, she sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing that paramedics could do for her. She was declared dead."
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the fatal crash.
