A brave Cape Flats boy has told how he survived a brutal attack in the same bush the Station Strangler used to dump his young murder victims.
Th eight-year-old boy survived being repeatedly bashed in the head with a brick and being left for dead on the weekend.
His attacker tied his hands and feet and beat him mercilessly after also assaulting and raping the boy's 12-year-old friend.
On Tuesday the suspect appeared in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates' Court on two attempted murder charges and one of sexual assault.
Both children are recovering in hospital and are still traumatised by the attack.
Speaking to the Daily Voice, the brave young boy said he still felt as if his attacker was close by.
"He tied me with a rope and kept hitting me with a brick," he said.
"It was painful. I had difficulty breathing but he kept banging the brick on my head."
His mother said her son had sleepless nights, had lost his appetite and spoke with difficulty.
"I just wonder what kind of a person could do such a thing to innocent children... he (the attacker) really wanted to kill them," she said.
A few beds away lay the boy's 12-year-old friend, recovering from the ordeal.
The brave girl managed to escape her attacker and alerted police who she led to the injured boy.
Police said the little girl was dripping blood from her private parts and had swollen eyes.
Both their parents said their children have constant nightmares.
The girl's mom said: "I think this has traumatised her a lot. She still sees this man hurting her.
"I just wish the courts could throw the keys away and let him rot in jail forever."
The case has been postponed to June 11 while the accused secures a Legal Aid lawyer. - Daily Voice
