Members of the Johannesburg inner city Residents Association gathered at the Joubert Park Art Gallery on Wednesday, in preparation for a protest march against evictions.

"We know the ANC brought us freedom, but in the inner city we are not seeing it," said community leader Moses Ka Moyo.

The protesters were expected to march to the ANC headquarters at Luthuli House.

"We are systematically abused through courts and police. The Red Ants are also intimidating us," said Ka Moyo.

A memorandum calling for an end to evictions, intimidation, building hijacking, Red Ants, high rental amounts, among other grievances will be handed over to the ANC Secretary-General Gwede Mantashe. - Sapa
