Durban - Two people were killed and 26 were injured, including 14 pupils, in several accidents in Durban on Monday, paramedics said.

A man was killed when he was run over by a train at the Phoenix railway station, said Emergency Medical Services spokesman Robert McKenzie.

He said the man was dead when the paramedics arrived at the scene.

Another person was killed in Mariannhill when a minibus taxi and a truck collided on the M1. Nine other people were injured in the accident.

McKenzie said they were treated on the scene before they were taken to a nearby hospital.

Fourteen school children were injured in Meerbank when a bakkie transporting them overturned on Chittagong road.

The pupils sustained minor injuries, said McKenzie.

One person was injured when a car overturned on the N2 near Nandi drive. Two other people were injured when their vehicle overturned on the same road. - Sapa
