25 injured in Inanda bus crash

Johannesburg - Twenty five people were injured when a bus went down an embankment in Awatikwe, Inanda, near Durban on Saturday afternoon, KwaZulu-Natal emergency medical services said.

“KwaZulu-Natal emergency medical services dispatched several ambulances and response vehicles and a patient transport bus... (for minor injuries) to the incident,” said spokesman Robert McKenzie.

“Local emergency services and several private ambulances also attended the accident.”

Fourteen of the injured sustained serious injuries, with the remainder suffering minor injuries.

“There were reportedly were also several people uninjured. The paramedics treated the injured patients for their injuries on scene before transporting them to local health institutions,” said McKenzie.

“The police are investigating the matter further.”

McKenzie thanked paramedics for their service.
