Durban - Five people were killed early on Thursday after five trucks were involved in a collision on the N3.

ER24 spokesman, Derrick Banks, said three people sustained minor injuries.

Banks said the trucks had been travelling along the N3 Johannesburg-bound, near Bergville, at about 3am.

“Paramedics arrived and found the five trucks with extensive damage. Five occupants in one truck were found entrapped in the front of the cabin,” he said.

Banks said the five had sustained traumatic and fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene.

The road was closed for about four hours while emergency units attended to the scene.
