The ANCYL executive committee in KwaZulu-Natal has been stripped of its power, provincial chairman Mthandeni Dlungwane said on Wednesday
“Yes, it is true that our powers have been withdrawn. I received a letter from the national office today (Wednesday).”
Dlungwane said the letter from the ANC Youth League did not explain the reasons for the move.
“We will fight this decision because it was not taken by an appropriate structure. The national working committee does not have powers to do that.”
Talk of the disbanding of the provincial executive committee emerged last week, but was denied by the ANCYL's national office.
Dlungwane and most provincial executive committee members believed the decision to disband was taken after they refused to support ANCYL president Julius Malema during his recent appearance before a disciplinary hearing.
They also claimed that the league's leadership did not want them because they wanted President Jacob Zuma to be re-elected for a second term next year.
ANCYL general secretary Sindiso Magaqa said the decision to remove powers from its KwaZulu-Natal branch had been taken because of “serious divisions with the provincial executive”.
“The divisions hamper the work of the organisation. Everything will now be done here at the head office.”
Earlier on Wednesday, ANCYL provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo urged ANCYL members not to revolt should the provincial leadership be disbanded.
“If the national leadership decides to disband the provincial executive committee, we must all accept that. It won't be something new.”
Mtolo said the provincial executive committee had “defined itself outside the ANC” by rebelling against its national leaders.
“They have insulted our national leaders and that can't be tolerated.” - Sapa

It is very easy comrades. Let us come together and force the ANC disciplinary hearing to dismiss this leadership and its support. They must leave the ANC and form COPE B. We do not need them. They are racist and disrespectful.

The youth league is nothing more than a brainwashing structure for the current dictatorship, they should not even get media coverage. A bunch of illiterate children should never have been given the coverage they receive

Joel, below, welcomes this disbanding, saying that it is a consequence of ill-discipline in that the KZN YL are not abiding by decisions taken elsewhere. Huh? Surely it is fundamental democracy to allow contrary voices, opinions, views, decisions, and accept them as part of the bigger picture? So what if one out of 9 YL provincial execs choose against the head office? Isn't it their democratic right? The remaining 8 can still overrule a minority view, but the minority view must still be heard. These dudes in Gauteng HQ are nothing but police, not politicians. Maybe it is well and good that division, and more division, permeates the ANC. The ANC needs a lesson in humility and diversity of opinion and real democratic practices.

This just goes to prove that Shivambu is a liar and that Malema is a despot in the mould of Mugabe. SA does not need fascists like these in politics they are worse than the far right extremists.

It looks like these morons really do not know history and AmaZulu. Let me remind them. John Langalibalele Dube, Josiah Gumede, Albert John Luthuli, Jacob G Zuma. We have a history of leadership. These morons think showing bums is the way to leadership. So far and no further!

As an ANC supporter it delights me to see these latest developments. Let the ANC leadership allow the tail to wag the dog at their peril, the animal that has been created is now threatening the future of our party. Decisive leadership is required and appears to be lacking. Aligned to this is the total disregard of party branches to remain in good standing, another sign of erosion of our great former leaders ideals.

It clear now the ANCYL national leadership are purging everyone who support JZ, maybe we should ask ourselves who is the YL? I start to doubt whether our YL leadership are ANC members. We are behind our PEC leadership, let Malema and his boys do wahtever they want but we will stand by you. It happened during provincial election where all those against JM were suspended and now they are disbanding the structure we elected. Let all young lions roar, JM has gone too far.

The disbanding of the KwaZulu-Natal ANCYL Executive should be welcome by all who are serious about building a strong and united ANC Youth League in the runup to Mangaung 2012. The squabbles within the provincial youth league did not help matters. While this probably has very little to do with the disbanding, the failure of the provincial league to support the national leadership, which is under attack from a desperate faction in the mother body would not have gone unnoticed. The provincial leadership which is also senselessly pushing for the re-election of the disastrous Polokwane leadership is also a big disappointment, particularly at a time that the ANC is crying for renewal of leadership. The provincial league has been making statements on succession even when the national leadership of the ANC has discouraged such talk in public. It was clear that the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial ANC was going to turn a blind eye to this ill-discipline as it serves its agenda. It is well and good that the national leadership of the ANC Youth League has stepped in to deal with this hypocrisy once and for all. The KwaZulu-Natal ANCYL Provincial Executive was proving to be the weakest link in the runup to Mangaung. One understands the rumours that some people from KwaZulu-Natal were paid in the runup to the ANCYL National Conference in Midrand to support Lebogang Maile against Julius Malema.

Well now I hope the mother body of the ANC does the same to Julius , since he has no problem disbaning members.

Take heed everybody. This just shows us what it would be like under a Malema government. You don't toe the line and do as he "commands" then your out. If and when he had full power it would be out forever... you'll probably be dead, just like that old monster Idi Amin did. What a bunch of obnoxious bullies. I hope the members throut the country take not that they are no longer free to have an opinion of their own. God help this country with all the corruption and squabbling that goes on within our political ranks. I wish President Zuma would be stronger and put these leaders of the ANCYL in their place. He has the chance and he has the power. Come on Mr President, I want to scream on top of my voice VIVA ZUMA!

What a pathetic attempt by Juluis and his mob to try and distablise kzn. It wont work because we will support our PEC. Juju must remember he entered the back door in 2007. We wont allow a Woodwork failure to intimidate us. We declare war against Juju and his puppets

Remove Julius Malema or else. It is evident that Malema is a dictator and he has to be fired from the ANC ASAP.
