A five-year-old boy was killed when he and seven other people were hit by a car in Pinetown, paramedics said on Monday.
The driver of the car allegedly lost control on a bend and hit the group of people walking back from church around 7pm on Sunday, ER24 spokesman Andre Visser. The driver then ran away.
Visser said two women were seriously injured. One of them, in her 40s, was dragged under the car as it went down an embankment.
Apart from her broken legs, the woman also sustained head and chest injuries, he said.
