Durban - A police officer was killed and another critically injured when the car in which they were travelling rolled on Durban’s Phoenix highway at about 5.30am on Saturday morning.
Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said the injured man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by the KwaZulu-Natal emergency medical service.
Police spokesman Major Thulani Zwane said police were investigating a case of culpable homicide.
He said both men were serving police officers and the vehicle was state-owned.
The names and ranks of the officers, and whether they were on official duty, were not disclosed, although Zwane said the officer who died was 23 years old.
He said the cause of the accident was not known.
