Durban - Five people were injured when a refrigeration truck overturned in Amanzimtoti on Tuesday, paramedics said.

The truck driver was thought to have lost control of the vehicle in a bend on the N2 near the Adams Road off-ramp at 6.30am, said Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha.

It crashed through Armco barriers and overturned down a steep embankment injuring five people, one of them seriously.

He said the injured were all stabilised at the scene before being taken to hospital. - Sapa
