Durban - A four-year-old boy drowned in a pool in Northdene, in KwaZulu-Natal's Queensburgh on Sunday, Netcare 911 said.

When paramedics arrived on the scene a family member was performing CPR on the boy after removing him from the pool.

“Paramedics took over CPR and continued for an extended period of time but tragically the boy was declared dead at the scene,” said spokeswoman Santi Steinmann.

The circumstances of the drowning would be investigated, but Steinmann urged parents to take extra care of their children and family members around pools.
