Durban - A 10-year-old boy drowned in Gamalake near Margate, in KwaZulu-Natal, on Friday, said paramedics.

“Reports indicate that the boy was caught in the flooding river and then washed into a storm water drain,” said Netcare 911

spokesman Chris Botha.

He said paramedics and police pulled the boy from the water-filled drain.

They tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate him for more than an hour, but he was declared dead on the scene, said Botha.
