A man was killed and two others injured when their car overturned on the N3 near Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday, paramedics said.
ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said the accident happened in the afternoon on the Durban-bound side of the freeway near the Pieter Brown offramp.
“Paramedics found the car in the left lane of the freeway near the embankment and the driver lying in the middle of the road.”
The two passengers were sitting next to the car at the side of the road.
The paramedics assessed the driver but he was already dead. The injured passengers were taken to the nearby Northdale Hospital.
“It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control but the passengers believe there was a mechanical problem,” Banks said. - Sapa
