Durban - Rescue teams were still searching on Tuesday for a man who went missing during the weekend's Midmar Mile swim in KwaZulu-Natal.

Six people were searching for Herman van Straten, said Lieutenant Jack Haskins of the police's search and rescue unit.

Haskins said the team would search until Van Straten was found.

The 43-year-old man went missing on Saturday after he did not finish the race.

On Tuesday, Van Straten's fiancee Shane Jones reportedly complained she was not getting proper assistance from the event organisers.

Jones told The Star she was “pushed around from pillar to post” when trying to report that Van Straten was missing.

Jones said organisers went ahead with the next event after he went missing.

In 2011, Nick Mellet went missing during the 38th aQuelle Midmar Mile race. His body was recovered four days later.
