Durban - A Durban businessman reported missing on Monday was found at a local hospital on Thursday.
Lugasen Naicker, 42, telephoned his family yesterday to say he was okay and that he was on his way to a police station.
He was last seen at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Howard College, where he had gone to do a site inspection.
Tshque Harcharan, Naicker’s brother-in-law, said the family was relieved to hear from him.
Police spokesman, Captain Thulani Zwane, said yesterday that Naicker had been found in hospital after having a blackout.
“He was not kidnapped or hijacked,” he said.
When the Daily News contacted Harcharan, he said he could not reveal what Naicker had said.
Naicker’s wife, whose voicemail identifies her as “Shanika”, could not be contacted.
According to a relative, Nitara Audh, Naicker had recently recovered from a hijacking on October 5, when he had his throat slit and was thrown over a 90m cliff.
Audh said Naicker had spent the rest of the month recuperating and had not been working.
“He owns a construction company and it is contracted to the UKZN’s Howard College.
“He had decided to go back to work on Monday for a site inspection at the university,” Audh said.
She said his car had been found at the university.
