Durban – A man believed to have gone missing a few days ago was found in the Msunduzi area, near Cato Ridge, KwaZulu-Natal earlier on Thursday.

It is understood that the South African Community Crime Watch (Upper Highway area) got a group of volunteers together to search for the man. They have been searching tirelessly.

ER24 spokesman Chitra Bodasing Harduth said the man was located by community members on Thursday about a kilometre down a ravine.

Paramedics, SAPS Search and Rescue, Fire Department personnel and SAPS K9 Search and Rescue responded, along with volunteers.

Bodasing Harduth said the patient had a fractured right leg.

He was treated, and with the assistance of the community, carried out of the area.

He was transported to hospital for further medical care.

The exact circumstances as to how he got stranded in the ravine are unclear.

ER24 thanked all the volunteers and services who worked together to rescue the man.
