Mourner dies in cemetery taxi crash

KwaZulu-Natal - A minibus filled with mourners and travelling through the Tafuleni cemetery, near Verulam in KwaZulu-Natal, overturned on Wednesday, leaving one dead and 16 people injured.

Provincial emergency medical services spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie, said the occupants of the minibus were mourners who had attended a funeral.

The taxi overturned leaving one woman dead while paramedics treated 16 injured. “Ten of these patients sustained serious injuries, while six patients had sustained relatively minor injuries,” McKenzie said.

The patients were transported to hospitals in the area for further treatment.

The circumstances of the crash were being investigated by local police.
