Cato Ridge, KwaZulu-Natal -

Two men survived an emergency crash landing in a sugar cane field in Cato Ridge on Thursday, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said paramedics rushed to the crash site, only to find that the two occupants of a Piper aircraft were unscathed.

It was not immediately clear why the aircraft had to crash land in the field near Cato Ridge, midway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

SA Civil Aviation Authority spokeswoman Phindi Gwebu could not be reached for comment. - Sapa
