Durban - In a daring rescue paramedics freed an unconscious driver as toxic smoke pored into his vehicle on the Ruth First Highway in Durban.

IPSS Medical Rescue paramedics on the scene say that the man had suffered a seizure near the Broadway Bridge when he crashed into a car and then into a retaining wall. The man's foot was stuck on the accelerator filling the car and the surrounding area with smoke as his wheels continued to spin forward.

Paramedics had to smash the car’s back window to free the patient before he inhaled too much of the toxic smoke.
