Durban -

Seven police officers and two dogs were on Wednesday searching for Herman van Straten, who went missing during the weekend's Midmar Mile swim in KwaZulu-Natal.

“The search is still continuing, the team started at 6.30am,” said Lieutenant Jack Haskins.

The 43-year-old man went missing on Saturday. He did not finish the race.

On Tuesday, Van Straten's fiancee, Shane Jones, reportedly complained she did not get proper help from the event organisers on Saturday.

Jones told The Star newspaper that she was “pushed around from pillar to post” when trying to report Van Straten missing.

Jones said organisers went ahead with the next event after he went missing.
