Six people were killed in an accident in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday evening, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.

Four others were injured, one critically, said Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann.

They were taken to hospital.

It is alleged that two cars were involved in a head-on collision on Caluza road.

“Exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation,” said Steinmann.
