Durban - A child was killed and two more injured after a minibus taxi crashed into their Shallcross home, in south Durban, while they were sleeping early on Wednesday.

Police spokeswoman Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said the vehicle crashed into the Burling Road house around 6.30am.

The impact caused a wall to collapse on the children - aged between 10 and 14 - who were in bed.

“A 10-year-old child died at the scene,” Mbhele said.

A 12- and a 14-year-old were injured and taken to RK Khan Hospital to be treated.

The cause of the accident was not known but a suspect was arrested and Chatsworth police were investigating a case of culpable homicide, Mbhele said.
