INDEPENDENT NEWSPAPERS
Three Esiqiwini High School teachers, in Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal, have allegedly been involved in sexual relationships with pupils, the Sowetan reported on Tuesday.
Parents and pupils were threatening to take “action” if the teachers were not expelled. Mtubatuba residents had been trying to get the provincial education department to investigate the allegations since 2009. Last year, a teacher paid “damages” to a matric girl's parents after he admitted having fathered her child, the newspaper reported.
This was after a local crime prevention organisation investigated the allegations and found them to be true.
The school's governing body chairman Eliazah Ntshangase confirmed that a pupil was currently raising a child fathered by a teacher.
KwaZulu-Natal education department spokesman Sihle Mlotshwa said the department was aware of the allegation.
“The district has asked the said teacher to make a statement and a decision will be taken as informed by the facts presented to the district,” he told the Sowetan. - Sapa

Wow...this is definitely sick and twisted. One assumes sending kids to school is a safe option, but apparently even there - it's as dangerous as anywhere else.

My Dear Fellow, were I a Teacher of your calibre, I certainly wouldnt advertise the fact on an open forum such as this! Benjamin

Without condoning this despicable act, lets be practical about the issue. We need to educate our kids about how they should handle their relationships with teachers, regardless of age or sex. Often kids have a natural admiration (crush) on a teacher of the opposite sex. If that is mishandled it often leads to relationaships, especially between a young male teacher and school kid and the relationship normally turns ugly when disapproved by young adult learners, other staff members and society or when that relationship ends in pragnancy. Young girls should take staff members as parents because that is what teachers are. There is nothing new to say to a teacher if they went through a formal training programme. Lets not be shocked by this as if its new, but find a practical solution to it. Mine would be on indoctrinating our kids about the accaptable relationship with teachers. Lets not demonise our kids, they just don't know how to deal with their often wild physiological changes. As for the teacher: anyone who gets involved with school kids does not belong in the teaching profession. Also, lets not allow too young teachers (below 25 years of age) to teach in highschools. I started teaching at 20 and had serious problems with girls of my age, who were often reprimanded by their peers, especially boys, from "annoying" them. We have a mammoth task on our shoulders.

Reality check: It begins at home. If you let your child dress like Beyonce when she goes to school; when you let them show off their legs to their teachers; when you don't make your child have morals of her own; when you as a parent are not being responsible enough. If I saw a girl who shos her body off and behaves like an adult I would be tempted. Not that I would take advantage, but I would be tempted. That's me in my reality. About the teacher...He is a sick bastard like many that I know, he could have resisted, period.

Why are only the teachers being blamed here? The girls should take some responsibility as well. Surely if they are in high school, they know right from wrong. And parents wanting to take action,,hah!,it begins at home. Teach them from young to behave appropriately! How many have actually seen these school girls in action? Their behaviour is disgusting! So before you'll start playing the blame game and commenting like you'll know what goes on, think first!!!!!!
