Durban - Three people were killed and four others were injured on Saturday when the cars they were travelling in collided on the R618 in Umkhanyakude, KwaZulu-Natal emergency services said.

The collision took place around 4pm, spokesman Robert Mckenzie said.

“Paramedics treated the four surviving patients, one who was critically injured and the remaining patients had serious injuries.”

They were taken to Ngwelezana hospital for further care.

The cause of the accident was not clear.
