Johannesburg - Three people died and four others were injured on Friday morning in a head-on collision on the P459 in Isithebe, on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast, paramedics said.
When paramedics arrived on the scene the occupants were trapped in the cars and the Jaws of Life had to be used to free them, Netcare spokesman Chris Botha said.
Two people sustained critical injuries and two others were seriously injured.
They were all transported to hospital.
The cause of the accident was not known. - Sapa
