Three children were killed and another was critically injured on Friday when a bakkie crashed into them on the R102 near Mdeni in KwaZulu-Natal, an official said.
Transport spokesman Kwanele Ncalane said the four children were on their way to school.
“The driver of a bakkie lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the children at about 7am.”
Three children - two girls and a boy - were declared dead on the scene.
The fourth child, a boy, was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
“The boy is fighting for his life and is in a very critical condition,” Ncalane said.
The four children were apparently related.
The driver of the bakkie faces three charges of culpable homicide, he said. - Sapa
