Questions have emerged over space to accommodate Virginia Airport alongside the proposed dig-out port in South Durban.

KwaZulu-Natal - Three people survived a light airplane crash near Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday morning, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said a Cessna light aircraft had just taken off from Oribi airport when it got into difficulty.

“The pilot crash-landed about a kilometre away into a nature reserve,” said Banks.

The pilot and two passengers were unharmed.
