Durban – A 3-year-old girl's body was recovered from a pit latrine in Shaya Moya, on the KwaZulu Natal North Coast on Thursday afternoon.
IPSS Medical Rescue's Paul Herbst said the private ambulance service and the KwaDukuza Fire Department worked together to recover her body from about 25 meters below ground level.

It is understood that her grandmother took her to the pit latrine.
She left her there for a short time and when she returned, the child had disappeared.
