Johannesburg - Some of South Africa's most exclusive hotels are now offering pampering for dogs accompanying their owners, the Sunday Times reported.

“Demand for pet-friendly accommodation is extremely high,” said Wayne Coetzer, the manager of the Oyster Box hotel in Umhlanga.

“Our guests want luxury and style and don't want to compromise because they have pets.”

The boutique hotel offers various treats for the dogs including a Woof Waffle - a grilled waffle with a boerewors sausage and gravy for R55. R95 will buy your pet a full doggy breakfast or the Meaty Muncher - junks of steak with gravy and rice.

Cat owners can order flaked tuna for R45 or stripped chicken breasts or fresh salmon with cream for R60.

Coetzer told the newspaper that one guest had arrived with a pet snake - for which the hotel had to source mice from a pet shop.
