Staff at Independent Media in Durban aimed to donate 67 packets of sanitary pads on Mandela Day but ended up donating 117 packets to the #MillionComforts campaign.
According to the Dis-Chem Pharmacies Head Office, the sanitary pads are delivered to schools where disadvantaged young women will be given the pads.
On Monday Dis-Chem took 1 000 packets of pads to the Doors of Hope in Diepsloot. They have also donated to the Green Door Centre, a home for young girls in school who were removed from their homes because they are victims of violence, rape and sexual abuse.
Dis-Chem also has a list of NGO's and NPO's they will donate to once they start the distribution process in the coming week.
