Daryl Peense was found guilty of assaulting President Jacob Zuma at the Vodacom Durban July.
The man who spilled his drink on President Jacob Zuma was fined R8000, suspended for three years, by the Durban Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, the SABC reported.
Daryl Peense was found guilty of assault on July 27. He was arrested during the Durban July horse race last year.
During his trial, Peense denied deliberately spilling his drink on the president, claiming it spilled when people pushed against him to get a better view of Zuma.
He claimed he was drunk at the time and was standing over a balcony when this happened.
It emerged during the trial that the spilled drink had not touched the president as a bodyguard shielded him. - Sapa

So he spills his drink, which does NOT touch the president, yet he's found guily of assault by spilling his drink on JZ? SO it didn't happen, but you're guilty anyway. What a F#@^%$g joke!

He must be relieved it's finally over. An expensive drink. Just a pity that "bodyguards" who over-react can ruin people's lives and get away with it.

Why did President Zuma not say anything to the judge about what really happened.

It is a disgrace that such a case has to be brought up - a little drink and he complains - what happened to the hero who sings and dance with his machine guns shower head was disappointed he was not given the free drink it is a shame our courts are tied up with all these petty issues and more serious matters are left standing

R8000 fine & 3yrs suspension for spilling a drink!! Wtf is our country coming to? That's a harsher sentence than some drunk drivers get!! Actual physical assault has gotten a lesser sentence than that!! I'm so ashamed right right now.
