Johannesburg - The winner of the R87 624 435 PowerBall mega jackpot, believed to be a Limpopo teacher, has come forward to claim his millions.

The winner, who bought a R20 quick-pick ticket just an hour and 15 minutes before the draw at a Global filling station in Marulaneng, a village in Mokopane, and lodged the claim five days after the draw, is set to receive his full R87.6m once Ithuba completes the validation process.

Ithuba lottery spokeswoman Zuki Nomnganga said the winner would be making his way to Joburg and the validation process would be completed on .

“We have validated that the ticket the winner has is indeed a winning ticket, however validation goes beyond that. We have to do our validation questionnaires.

“This is a very sensitive matter and we need to protect the identity of our winner. Once the validation is complete and the winner is announced then we can be a bit more open,” said Nomnganga.
