Johannesburg - The body of the farmer’s wife presumed missing was found in the burnt out farm house on Monday, Limpopo police said.

“Mrs Lotters’ burnt body was found in the house by investigators where a section of the roof had collapsed on her. Postmortems will be conducted to determine what happened. No arrests have been made,” said spokeswoman Colonel Ronel Otto.

Ina Lotters, 64, was presumed missing on Sunday after the body of her husband, Robbie Lotters, 69, was discovered in front of their house that had caught alight.

Otto said neighbours noticed the fire at the Lotters’ farm and went to investigate. They found the farmer lying dead outside the house.

He had suffered serious wounds to his head. Several items that had been stolen from the house were found scattered in nearby bushes, Otto said.

“A quadbike and other stolen items from the house were found abandoned in Phagameng outside of Modimolle.”
