Limpopo - A Zimbabwean teacher who worked as a temporary maths teacher at a Limpopo school will not be paid R60 000 which is due to him.
After working as a temporary teacher at Sekeleka Secondary School in Ditatju village near Bochum for seven years, Dzingirai Mabhugu’s salary was cut for four months from January last year.
Despite this, the 34-year-old had continued teaching maths to Grade 8 to 12 pupils, said school governing body secretary Salphy Lefoka.
Mabhugu, whose salary was reinstated in May, said that in November, Education Department spokesman Phuti Seloba had promised an investigation.
The teacher faces a bleak future after the department told him they don’t owe him.
Seloba said on Tuesday Mabhugu had failed to provide an appointment letter to confirm he was employed at the school at the time he had not received a salary. - The Star
