Lotto fever is back with a bang, with more than 200 000 sales recorded by operator Gidani across the country in the first three hours on Friday.
Gidani spokesperson Thembi Tulwana said the first ticket was bought at a service station in Midrand within 20 seconds of going on sale at 6am.
It seems Lotto fanatics have been oblivious to the controversy surrounding the awarding of the lottery licence to the new company, Gidani.
E.tv will resume its lottery show every Saturday and Wednesday at 9.30 pm with a new name, Raise Your Game, hosted by Nimrod Nkosi and former Miss South Africa Vanessa Carrera. During the show, six contestants will compete over four rounds for the weekly grand prize of R300 000.
E.tv's head of local programming, Zanele Mthembu, said: "Lotto game shows have been successful on etv. Like its predecessors, Raise Your Game will offer suspense, excitement and good old-fashioned fun."
The first jackpot is R15-million and the draw will be held next Saturday.
