Limpopo - A four-year-old boy was killed and two people were injured in a head-on collision in Nelspruit, paramedics said on Thursday.

A bakkie veered out of control and collided head-on with a Volkswagen sports utility vehicle in heavy rain on Dr Enos Mabuza road on Wednesday afternoon, said ER24 spokesman Andre Visser.

A four-year-old boy in the bakkie was declared dead at the scene, he said.

“The mother had sustained serious injuries in the form of a suspected broken hip, a broken leg as well as suspected back and neck injuries.”

The woman driving the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Visser said both women were treated on the scene before being taken to the Nelspruit Mediclinic. - Sapax
