A man, said to be a friend of right-winger Willem Ratte, has been arrested for the alleged vandalism of a Balmoral concentration camp monument in Mpumalanga, Beeld reported on Wednesday.
“I'm going back to jail... It feels like home to me. I'm going to visit my 'tjommie' (chum),” he told the Afrikaans daily shortly after his arrest at the eMalahleni Magistrate's Court in Witbank.
He was speaking on the same day that Ratte's case was postponed in court.
Ratte and this man were recently arrested on a farm in Balmoral, Mpumalanga, on charges related to the possession of firearms and ammunition, alongside eight other men.
All of them except Ratte were released on bail, but now one has been re-arrested for the vandalism of the monument.
The man posed pictures of the vandalised monument on his facebook page. They show a bearded man posing with folded arms and one foot resting on pieces of the monument's tower.
He claims on his facebook page he had to remove the “piel van Satan (penis of Satan)” from the “Boer monument”.
He was expected to appear in court on Thursday. - Sapa
