Standerton - A team of specialists has been sent to assess water quality at the Lekwa municipality in Standerton, Mpumalanga, the water affairs department said on Thursday.
“The team consists of drinking water quality experts, engineers and infrastructure officials who will conduct a full assessment of the system,” department spokesman Mava Scott said in a statement.
Scott said residents had complained the water was dirty, had worms in it, and a bad smell.
The team was expected to complete its assessment on Thursday.
“Once the assessment is completed and the cost of repairing the damage is done, we will proceed and do the work to restore the water to potable drinking standard,” Water Affairs Minister Edna
Molewa said in a statement.
Daily updates about the progress made would be provided.
