Middelburg - Two men accused of beating up a black man and forcing him into a coffin were granted R1 000 bail in the Middelburg Magistrate's Court on Friday.
There was an outcry in the courtroom when judgment in the bail application of Theo Martins Jackson and Willem Oostuizen was pronounced.
In November last year, Jackson and Oosthuizen allegedly beat up Victor Rethabile Mlotshwa, whom they accused of trespassing, before forcing him into a coffin while threatening to set him alight.
A video of the assault went viral on social media leading to a national outcry.
