Nando’s has taken up the challenge laid down by Santam after the chicken retailer spoofed one of the insurance giant’s TV adverts.

Santam have been using Sir Ben Kingsley to remind people in their latest TV ad that they are, essentially, not reading the fine print on their insurance policies. The ad, showing Kingsley at a bar, ends by asking if you have noticed that the barman has changed clothes four times.

Nando’s ad shows a man at a bar asking people if they have studied a Nando’s menu, and ends with him asking if viewers noticed that the Nando’s meals behind him changed three times.

Santam ran another TV ad this week, challenging the fast food outlet to deliver a long order of Nando’s menu items to the Joburg Children’s Home by 4pm on Thursday. The ad features a Kingsley lookalike saying how flattered Santam was.

Nando’s marketing director Quinton Cronje said: “We’ve taken up the challenge. We’ve been to the children’s home and are delivering the food today, a day ahead of the deadline.” - Cape Argus
