Johannesburg - Two brothers were killed when they were hit by a car, allegedly driven by a radio personality, in Mmabatho on Sunday morning, North West police said.

“We are still investigating but will not release the man's name until he appears in court,” Brigadier Thulane Ngubane said.

The 30-year-old was driving a silver Audi when he hit the nine-year-old boy and his brother, in his 20s, walking to church with their mother.

After striking the two the Audi collided with another car, hit a rock, and came to a halt. The driver allegedly ran away, leaving his female passenger behind, said Ngubane. Police went to his house and place of work. The man handed himself over to police at 11am.

The man faced two counts of culpable homicide, charges of reckless or negligent driving, drunken driving, and failing to stop and help at an accident. He was expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
