Johannesburg - The burnt body of a woman was found in an abandoned house in Lerome Village, North West police said on Thursday.

Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said police were called to the property on Tuesday when community members complained of a bad smell.

The body of the woman, in her 20s, was found under sheets of corrugated iron.

Ngubane said certain factors at the house suggested that the woman had been burnt to death.

“Foul play is suspected and at this stage no one has been arrested.”
